Abstract Body
Objective: To explore the application efficacy of mixed reality (MR) technology integrated with the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) model in the training of pediatric Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) nurses, thereby providing a training paradigm to enhance the professional competence of nurses specializing in pediatric ECMO care.
Methods: A total of 30 nurses who met the predefined inclusion criteria were randomly allocated to either the MR group or the conventional group, with 15 participants in each group. The conventional group received a one-week pediatric ECMO training program based on Case-Based Learning (CBL), utilizing conventional PPT lectures. In contrast, the MR group underwent a one-week pediatric ECMO training via a customized MR training platform. Posttraining, both groups were evaluated using the OSCE model, which included theoretical and practical operation assessments. Concurrently , A questionnaire was administered to collect data regarding satisfaction with the training mode, as well as overall feedback among nurses in both groups.
Results: Nurses in the MR group demonstrated higher scores in theoretical examinations and practical operation assessments .The questionnaire survey indicated that the nurses in the MR group had a higher level of satisfaction with the training mode, and demonstrated a more favorable response to the training than the nurses in the conventional group ( all P
