Background : Hypertension is the common complication in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) that increase mortality and morbidity. The severity of hypertension in CKD progression is still unclear. The aim of this study was to compare the difference of blood pressure (BP) in children with CKD in some stage. Material : A retrospective study from medical records of children with CKD at Dr.Soetomo Hospital was done from January - March 2018. Blood pressure at CKD stage 1-3, CKD stage 4, CKD stage 5 on peritoneal dialysis (PD), and CKD stage 5 on hemodialysis (HD) group were compared. The staging of CKD was classified based on glomerular filtration rate (GFR). Statistical analysis using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney test, with p < 0.05 being considered significant. Results : A total of 40 children, 26/40 were male participated, with median age was 12 (range 2-17 years), median GFR was 14.7 (4-60 mL/min/1.73 m2), median mean arterial pressure (MAP) was 83.3 (70-102 mmHg), sistole BP 109 (90-140 mmHg), and diastole BP 71 (60-90 mmHg). The most common percentile BP P90 was 11/40 (27.5%). There were significant difference of percentile BP between CKD stage 1-3 with CKD stage 5 on HD (p = 0.023), CKD stage 4 vs CKD stage 5 on PD (p < 0.01) and CKD stage 4 vs CKD stage 5 on HD (p < 0.01). Conclusions : The blood pressure trend to increase with CKD progression.
