COMPARISON OF SPUTUM CULTURE RESULTS IN NEONATAL PNEUMONIA DURING THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF AMR PROGRAM IN SAIFUL ANWAR GENERAL HOSPITAL MALANG

Background : Pneumonia is still an ongoing problem in the world, especially in neonatal section. This leads to the need to reduce the number and prevent the death of neonates. AMR is an important key to reducing the mortality rate of neonatal pneumonia. Material : Observational analytic study involves data from microbiology department before AMR project (2015) and during 2 years AMR stewardship program. We use multivariate and bivariate analysis to compare the results. Results : In 2015, 37 specimens out of 39 fulfils the requirement, 26 (70.27%) specimens were potential pathogens and 8 (21.62%) specimens were true pathogens. The true pathogens were 2 Acinetobacter baumanii, 1 Aeromonas hydrophilia, 1 Burkholderia pseudomallei, 1 Pseudomonas fluorescens, 2 Serratia liquefaciens and 1 Serratia marcenscens. In 2016, 30 specimens out of 31 fulfils the requirement, 18 (60.00%) specimens were potential pathogens and 9 (30.00%) specimens were true pathogens. The true pathogens 2 Acinetobacter baumanii, 1 Aeromonas hydrophilia, 1 Chryseobacterium indologenes, 1 Proteus mirabilis, 3 Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 1 Serratia marcescens. In 2017, 106 specimens out of 109 fulfils the requirement, 68 (64.15%) specimens were potential pathogens and 21 (19.81%) specimens were true pathogens. The true pathogens were 5 Acinetobacter baumanii, 1 Acinetobacter haemolyticus, 12 Pseudomonas aeruginosa, 1 Serratia marcescens, 1 Sphingomonas paucimobilis and 1 Sternotrophomonas maltophilia. Conclusions : There was an increase in the number of specimen taken during AMR program. The dominant pathogens are Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumanii.
